ROAD to 31 Devotional - Day 7 - " Keep Moving Forward"

Listen to "Fast Train" from my new mixtape https://m.soundcloud.com/jeannie-ortega-2/fasttrain

I wrote the song "Fast Train" at a time in my life when I finally realized that regardless all I've been through in life up to that point, it was not going to break my spirit. I encountered abuse, bullying, heartbreak, low self-esteem, disappointment, losing my childhood dreams and more but I was determined to keep pushing forward.

Proverbs 24:16

"for the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity."

Now having a relationship with God I realized there was so much more to live for. He gave me purpose and hope beyond my current circumstances and because I had learned the nature of the enemy of my soul, I refused to give in to his lies. The devil wanted to shut me up, break me down, leave me depressed and ultimately wanting to kill myself.

1 Peter 5:8

"Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour"

What he seems to always forget is that when a Bible-believing Christian reads the whole book they know they have the victory even through the hard times. My soul was done taking a beating and I was determined to keep on trucking through my battles, why? Because I knew the truth! The truth that I was more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus, the truth that I am a chosen generation, the truth that sin no longer has no dominion over me.

Isaiah 43:2

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you."

Jesus died so that we could live and He rose again so that we could know that we too have Resurrection life in us. Do you believe that about yourself?

Meaning never, ever do you have to stay down because the same spirit that rose Christ from the dead is living in you once you accept Him. And never do you have to feel like you're the one doing this on your own because it is not by your own might or your own power but only by His Holy Spirit.

John 8:32

"and you will KNOW the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Mark 13:13

"...the one who endures to the end will be saved."

Reflection: Are you quick to throw in the towel when times get rough? Do you give into your weaknesses and forget all that God has purposed for you? Or do you stand firm and fight the good fight of faith knowing that greater is He that is in you (God, once you welcome Him in) than he that's in the world.

Prayer: Heavenly father thank you that you show us who we are in your word. We pray that your truth about us and all that concerns us would be louder than the voice of the enemy. Help us to remember that we have the victory in the name of Jesus and that by your Holy Spirit we are given the grace to keep pushing forward. Empower us to walk in the fullness of what you intended and help us to feel you near in times of trouble and heartache. We embrace you and ask for your mercy and forgiveness and that you reign in our lives, in Jesus name, Amen.
